Description

Epicatechin gallate (ECG) is a flavonoid-3ol, a flavonoid, found in green tea. It has also been reported in buckwheat and grapes.

The reason why tea ingredient epicatechin gallate has been studied is because in vitro experiments have shown that it can reverse the resistance of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus to methicillin. However, unlike catechins, this compound degrades significantly after soaking in boiling water.
